Which Benefit is Most Important to You?

By Custom Care | November 18, 2008

As a Small Business Owner have you ever asked your employees what kind of benefits they value most? It is a delicate balancing act; employers want to provide excellent benefits to their staff, but at the same time need to manage costs. Let us know what you value most?

Looking back to our post from a few weeks ago i.e. Listing the most common benefits being offered by employers(see below) and comparing it to what people want as graphed abovethere does appear to be some alignment that may need to take place. As well, many of the employees in todays market are working 2 or 3 part-time jobs instead of one full time position so having benefits that can be used by part-time people will become more and more significant in the mix as well.

According to the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Small Business Poll the
most common benefits offered to employees are:

-  Paid Vacations; Offered by 75% of small businesses.*
-  Employee Health Insurance Plan; 61%
- Paid Sick Leave; 59%
- Disability Insurance; 41%
- Education Reimbursement for Job; 39%
- Pension Plan; 30%
- Life Insurance; 29%
- Dental Insurance; 24% *
* provided to full-time staff with at least 1 year of service.
