Three Ways to Pay for Health Care Expenses

If you’re a small business owner, or a small business employee you understand the pain of paying for your health care expenses. What we don’t understand is why you continue to put yourself through this unnecessary pain!
There are three ways to pay for health care expenses. The painful and most common way is through traditional insurance companies in which you pay a monthly premium. In this case, you pay monthly premiums, every month, regardless if you make a claim or not. If you do decide to make a claim then you’ll likely also have to pay a deductible and a co-payment…which means that you are not actually 100% covered. Even with traditional “100% coverage,” you will have to pay for many services that do not fall under the so-called full coverage. For example, with 100% dental coverage, many companies do not cover braces for your children, root canals or scaling… which leaves you with more added costs!
We know what you’re thinking now, “this sounds terrible, but what other options do I have?” Well there are in fact two more ways to pay for your health care expenses. The first is simply paying out of your own pocket. While you don’t have premiums, this option ends up costing you more as well. The amount you can deduct on your personal return is minimal. For example, if you earned 50K a year and had $3000 in medical expenses you would have approximately $225 as an allowable deduction on your personal return.
